I got the following definition of my name (KATIE), from this website, i had always thought my name meant 'Pure' so i'll stick with that! although the Greek definition 'Each of the two' probably fits well with my Gemini personality and my husband would probably agree with the 'torture' version!!

From the Greek name Αικατερινη (Aikaterine). The etymology is debated: it could derive from the earlier Greek name ‘Εκατερινη (Hekaterine), which came from ‘εκατερος (Hekateros) "each of the two"; it could derive from the name of the goddess HECATE; it could be related to Greek αικια (aikia) "torture"; or it could be from a Coptic name meaning "my consecration of your name". The Romans associated it with Greek καθαρος (katharos) "pure" and changed their spelling from Katerina to Katharina to reflect this. I hated my name growing up, it was quite common ~ by the time i got to grammar school, there were 3 others in my class! I used to call myself Kay to set myself apart a bit, and my nickname was KitKat, which i actually quite liked!
I'm quite happy with it now, and i certainly understand how hard it is to choose a name for somebody else now i have had to do it twice! We spent months deciding on a name for Ewan, although with Evie we found the name quite quickly we never truly settled on it till she was born. I hope they both grow up to love their names, we chose names specifically that weren't 'wierd' so they'd have to spell it out all the time or too common so they'd be 1 of many in a class.
